born in the small town of biddenden, england to wealthy parents, Norman and Evelyn, life was simple, sort of. she attended a private school located at the halfway point between her small little hometown and London, and went home everyday to a large estate spanning dozens and dozens of beautiful acreage. she was given basically everything she wanted, within realistic standards, because despite how much money mommy and daddy had, the moon just wasn't a possible birthday gift. however, one good thing her parents did was buy her a horse. she was happy child for the most part, and quite popular amongst the other kids. it wasn't until she'd reached about 6 years old that she realized it was supposed to be her parents tucking her in at night and not one of the nannies they'd hired. it impacted her, and she began to throw tantrums almost daily and act in an attempt to get her parent's attention. even getting yelled out and disciplined would have been better than feeling like she barely existed to them.
her large number of failed attempts finally made her give up and by the sixth grade, she was staying out late and hanging with the wrong crowd.
middle school, she realized just how much power she had. her parents decided they were tired of the small town and moved the family to Bristol. it was the new start she needed. partying, drugs, hook ups, running from the cops; all became nightly things. her parents were of course informed of her behavior, but little action was taken. her parents were far too busy with their divorce to pay much attention to their child. without even a goodbye, her mother was off to America and strange women became a common sight at the house.
as usual, Alice paid as little attention to it as usual. after all, her parents could care less about what was happening in her life, what reason did she have to pay any mind to theirs. the crazy lifestyle she'd adopted had once been just for enjoyment was now her way of coping. things began to change though. with her demanding mother out of the picture, and her father finding a stable girlfriend, he wanted to attempt a relationship with his daughter. he tried setting and enforcing rules, arranging family sit down dinners and trips to the beach, but Alice wasn't prepared to let it be that easy. she was fighting depression and addiction and eventually it became to much and her first attempt at ending her life ensued. she was found by a nanny and transported to the nearest hospital to get her stomach pumped.
her mother was informed, but did not fly out to see her. her father was away on a business trip and could not make it until two days later. she was put into a recovery group and kept in a ward for a month and a half. after being released, she returned to school elsewhere, but not much changed. her father was madly in love with the new woman in his life, and Alice was back to partying and misbehaving. one evening, looking for some cigarettes in her dad's home office, she happened to glance at his laptop screen, which was open to emails between him and her mother. out of curiosity, she scrolled through them, discovering that her mother was getting remarried and absolutely did not want Alice to attend or visit that summer as planned. angry and hurt, Alice sent back a nasty email before throwing the breaking the laptop and locking herself in her room. with music blasting, she attempted suicide for a second time and this time was found by her father's girlfriend. she was kept in a wad even long this time and once she was released, finished up the school year at home with a tutor. her father, frustrated and stressed, decided that he needed a break and after discussing it with his ex wife, it was decided Alice would be sent to a boarding school in America. indifferent to the matter, she packed up her stuff and boarded the plane.
