If he heard one more idiotic football player screaming out in the hallway, Duke might loose it. Although, maybe he shouldn't be so hard. Guys were bound to get dumb after endless tackles for a leather ball, that or they were on steroids. There was an underlying cause though for his snappish annoyance, it was purely because eh was looking for a reason to get out of here. That or maybe start a fight. It was no secret that Duke van Buren hardly got along with any of the football players at Appleberry Crest. In fact, he looked down upon them. Whether it was status with his usual East Coast flare or the fact that he played lacrosse, any argument could be made.
There was one last scream and then a thump in the hallway that was the driving steak into the heart though. Swiftly getting up, he grabbed his car keys along with his dorm keys, after all, why walk downtown when you could drive a Porsche? Duke cast a glance towards his roommate one last time, "Tay, going out. Did you want any?" There was no answer, only the shake of a head as his roommate continued to type swiftly away on the keys. The action caused him to roll his eyes. Taylor was awesome in many ways, plus he was on the lacrosse team, but the moment he was on the computer, he seemed to check out, "Fine, but don't bitch me out like a girl when I get back."
Outside of his dorm room, Duke ducked out of the way as a football narrowly missed his head, "Dicks," he muttered to himself. Normally he'd instigate something straight afterwards but for once, he was hardly in the mood to deal with a bunch of juice heads that were just simply not worth his time. Dusk seemed to just be settling in now as he caught sight of the hues in the sky slowly starting to fade from blue into a blends of orange and pink. Yet that didn't stop him from pulling out his aviators to see the world through shades of dark amber as he made his way to the parking lot and his silver sports car. Unlocking the door, he slid in before turning on the engine.
The Porsche seemed to come alive, it's engine's roar slowly turning into a perfect purr. Beautiful and dangerous at the same time. It wasn't long before Duke put the car and gear and quickly pulled out, rubber burning in his wake as he made his way downtown and into the traffic. Pulling off, he parked in front of some pizzeria and got out. The car locks were loud, signalling his arrival as well as earned him some disapproving looks for disturbing the peace. Yet Duke didn't care, as far as he was concerned, he was god's gift to the world. His plan of action had was to get in and get out, yet all of the sudden that was put on hold.
Something caught his eye, or more importantly, someone. Usually he passed off fishnets as a freak thing, or a trashy thing, either way, something beneath him. But her pale legs were long and as his gaze climbed, the view only got better. It was a girl, sitting off under the shade with her food. More importantly though, she was someone new. Duke and the rest of Appleberry tended to fall in the habit of knowing everyone, so when there was something out of place, they didn't quite know what to make of it. She could be a townie, yet something told him that was not the case.
Duke found himself deterring from the pathway now, heading over towards the girl. Curiosity sometimes got the best of the senior, but also did a pretty girl. He didn't quite yet consider her social suicide but there was also that need to know her name, "Food any good?" he asked with a smirk, staring down at her through his aviators for a moment before pulling them off, "I'm Duke." words: 684 - tags: Alice Crowley - outfit: link |

'cuz we fall hard, we fall fast [atrb=border,0,true] [style=width: 250px; height: 290px; padding: 0px 5px 0px 5px; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11px; text-align:justify; color: #333; line-height: 99%; overflow: auto] glancing into the pizzeria windows, she saw most people were finishing up and the workers were even putting some of the chairs up at the tables farthest from the counter. they looked bored, and suddenly, she couldn't help but feel the same way. her life had been toned down like twenty notches since moving to georgia. adapting was usually so much easier, but this place was like some headquarters for a prada wearing cartel with gossips and secrets replacing drugs. maybe it was better that she was being left alone, free to carry on without anybody caring what she was up to. shaking those thoughts from her mind, alice pushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear before taking a bite of her now cheeseless pizza. she looked out at the street, watching the cars and a few evening bikers speed by. it was interesting, watching as the people out and about transitioned from soccer moms and little kids to girls and guys dressed for the clubs. she didn't feel as out of place, and shifted around until her legs were stretched out in front of her beneath the table, one crossed over the other. alice began picking the toppings off of her next slice instead, popping small bacon pieces into her mouth as she leaned back into her seat and settled her attention on a couple making out just a few feet away. the guy seemed totally oblivious to the fact that the chick locked to his lips was barely responding to him and had her eyes trained elsewhere. horny bastard. it wasn't until a rather loud beeping noise sounded that she realized what the girl was looking at. following her gaze, she noticed a really really nice car had pulled up. a lamborghini or something, she really couldn't tell the difference. she didn't even spare a glance at the driver, not wanting to give them the satisfaction of providing them with the attention they were probably looking for. plus it was probably just some polo wearing football player looking for somebody to keep him company tonight. shaking her head, she gave a slight smirk and eye roll and turned her attention back to her food. pizza had sounded so good not even an hour ago, and now looking down at the basically whole one in front of her, she wasn't sure she could even eat another small piece of bacon. picking up her drink, she brought the straw to her lips, and took a small sip as somebody approached. at first, she paid no attention but once they spoke, she set her cup down and lazily raised her gaze to meet there's. the first thing she noticed was the sunglasses, and she was tempted to ask if they were really that necessary in this lighting. instead, alice's eyes flickered to the car for not even half a second before settling back on the guy. she decided it had to be his, then allowed a small smirk to form on her lips as she answered him. "Why don't you be the judge of that?" she motioned to the chair across from her with a quick glance. leaning forward in her seat, she rested her elbows on the table and her head on her right palm. her smirk became more of a smile as the sunglasses came off, and she gave herself a few seconds to admire his eyes before averting her gaze to her drink. they were the kind of blue you could drown in, and there was no doubt in her mind that he knew that. "Well Duke, I'm Alice." [/style] | [/style] |

What was weird to him was the fact that the one girl was just ignoring him like he was nothing, and that was something that didn't sit well with him. It was a problem when people were used to being the center of attention, the moment that somebody denied them that, then it became some on going mystery or problem that they just had to solve and prove the other wrong. Plus, new people always did need a good education.
For a moment there, Duke actually thought that the girl was going to dare to ignore him but then she looked at him. Blue eyes, he noted to himself as she continued to stare at him before her gaze shifted to his car for the briefest of moments, "It's a Porsche." Even now, he could not help but to have his usual devilish smirk playing across his lips, in many ways, it matched his personality completely, just like the car. Loud, flashy, and essentially out of everyone's league or that was how he saw it. Of course, many kids that fell into the jocks and popular crowd tended to have that personality, Duke van Buren just liked to make an art form out of it.
The silence grew a little bit more before she decided to speak, "Maybe I will," he replied now, still smirking. As she nodded to the opposite chair now, Duke pulled it out and slid into it comfortably before leaning back into it, his gaze still studying her from across the way. She was pretty cute up close although she got added points for her accent, strange how she wore what she wore though. If it weren't for the clothes, he would have already thought her an elitist like himself. Though even Duke knew better than to judge a book by it's cover even though it was so easy and tempting to do.
As she leaned forward now, he knew better than to allow his eyes to wander. Nothing ended a conversation faster with a girl than checking them out, most guys had yet to learn how to do so discretely. As she introduced herself though, her name struck a chord in his brain, "Alice?" he repeated now, suddenly wondering if he had heard of her before and was only just know putting a name to a face. Still, it didn't entirely matter, there were no wanted posters up just yet, "Well, it's a pleasure," he replied now. The words rolled off smoothly as if he were just simply playing a game, "I have to say, I don't think I've seen you around before. I would have noticed you." words: 462 - tags: Alice Crowley - outfit: link |

'cuz we fall hard, we fall fast [atrb=border,0,true] [style=width: 250px; height: 290px; padding: 0px 5px 0px 5px; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11px; text-align:justify; color: #333; line-height: 99%; overflow: auto] Alice raised an eyebrow as he explained what kind of car it was. a Porsche, not a Lamborghini. it didn't really matter, they were basically the same thing to her, but she couldn't help but crack a small smile at how casually proud he seemed about it. it was cute, in a cocky sort of way. it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he was the kind of guy girls probably flocked to and guys envied. at the moment though, he was alone, and she wondered what in the world he was doing talking to her. part of her was suspicious that this was some sort of set up. while she'd so far unintentionally done an effortless job of staying under the radar, people around here were pretty bloodthirsty. brushing all paranoia aside, she took another small sip of her drink. he accepted the invitation, still smirking of course, and she re-met his gaze as he took a seat. it wasn't faltering in the least bit and she had to give him props. despite having the usual it-boy jock think going on, she found herself already taking a bit of liking to him. as he repeated her name, almost as if he knew it, or her. she couldn't help but raise her eyebrows slightly. she knew for a fact that she didn't know this guy, she would have remembered him. so she was unsure of how he would know her. it wasn't like she was a weekly topic on the school gossip blog or anything, so far she hadn't even made one appearance on it. with that thought, Alice realized she didn't even know if this guy actually attended Appleberry or not. he seemed fitting for such a prestigious school, like the type of guy they'd put in their brochures. in fact, she wouldn't be surprised if he had been in the brochure that she hadn't bothered to open. he made no further commentary on her name though, and she simply smiled as he spoke again. "oh you would have?" her smile was that of an amused and slightly skeptical one. "i suppose you could say i'm a bit new to these parts." she gave a slight shrug. surely there had been enough new arrivals to shed her of that label, but what else was she supposed to say? "and i'm sort of a prisoner of Appleberry." she added on, glancing down at her dark green nails, sure that an explanation of what Appleberry was wouldn't be necessary even if he didn't go there. it was supposed to be some highly prestigious place after all. "what's your excuse though?" Alice asked, looking back up with a curious smile. "i can't say i've ever seen you around, Duke. and i don't take you as the sort to be content with staying at home and watching the tele." [/style] | [/style] |

But Duke found himself not entirely caring about that, it only made this girl more intriguing in his mind and it had been a while since that happened. As big as Appleberry may seem, it was still small at the same time and people make all their rounds, at one point or another, each student probably had found themselves dating one another, at least within social ranks. Some of the populars even dated below, something that Duke never quite understood the temptation until maybe, now. But he still had to really figure her out first, although something told him that the girl sitting before him was more than willing to play social ladder.
Not to mention, as alternative as she seemed, the girl didn't seem to be telling him to shove off just quite yet. Duke might be willing enough to say it was his charm and good looks, but no need to jinx himself just yet with her. It was, however, a little annoying that he didn't seem to raise a presence with her. He was so used to being known the idea of being unknown felt like such a foreign concept, although even he wouldn't say know to a little education lesson. For now though, the girl, Alice, seemed to be humoring as far as playing into his little game. He watched the tug at her lips, a smile both amused and skeptical all in one but it was nothing that he couldn't battle.
"I would have. Why? Do you doubt me?" he replied and countered now, still watching her with a keen interest like a cat would with a mouse. Alice's next little comment though made him laugh, her shrug made it evident that maybe she should have passed this 'new girl' status by now. She probably had but not to Duke himself, and for a moment, he might have even saw 'it girl', but he knew sure enough that very well could be debatable. People would argue with him on that front, or attempt to but if there was one thing that he didn't take well to, it was people arguing with him or anything else that felt like a challenge aimed directly at him. Fellow classmates might call him entitled but at least unlike them, he had the confidence to back himself up.
Her line about prison, he should have seem coming but he still kept his smirk in place, "So you do go to Appleberry then," Duke mused out loud. Well then, he supposed then that he would be seeing much more of her after this little run in. Her next words caught him a little off guard but he waited, just to see where it might lead into before an explanation came. She hadn't seen him around before. A chuckle escaped him, light and playful as he shifted in his seat now, leaning forward and putting more of his weight on the table now as he stared across at her, "Maybe you just don't know where to look and where to get in." It wasn't a lie, people just needed to pick the right parties to crash, well that is, if they could decode the invitation as well, "But I can show you around some time, if you want."

'cuz we fall hard, we fall fast [atrb=border,0,true] [style=width: 250px; height: 290px; padding: 0px 5px 0px 5px; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11px; text-align:justify; color: #333; line-height: 99%; overflow: auto] Alice was genuinely intrigued by this guy. Everything about him screamed womanizing jock, but he, himself, was proving that judgement wrong. She was silently searching his face for any sign that this might be some set up or dare, but she couldn't. Part of her was crying out that she was getting blinded by the fact that he was gorgeous, but she ignored that self warning. It was about time something interesting came into her life here in Georgia, she could only go so long getting her doses of fun from one night stands with strange older men and smoking herself to kingdom come. Her smile grew the slightest bit and she found herself wanting to know more about Duke. A small laugh escape her lips as he countered her comment. "No." She paused, cocking her head to the side ever so slightly before laughing. "Maybe." Taking her arms off the table, she leaned back in her seat and folded them across her chest in a non defensive manner. He didn't seem too surprised that she attended the boarding school, almost as if he'd guessed it from the start. And the way he'd said it aloud sounded more or less like a conformation that he attended Appleberry as well. Which was a bit surprising, since she felt she should have seen or at least heard of him. He seemed like the important type or else his confidence was so strong it just made you think that. For some reason she had a hard time picturing him on a horse, but quickly realized people probably had the same thought about her. To be fair she hadn't done much riding since arriving, aside from a few casual strolls down the various paths. His next words brought a small smile to her face and she raised her eyebrows slightly. She knew he was right, but to finally hear it out loud just made the truth of it more real. Alice had attended maybe one or two parties thrown by actual students, not having quite made it into any social group that was considered important enough to even receive fragments of invitations. The school might have been a constant whirl of gossip, but when it came to the parties, they found a way to keep things under wraps. Duke's little offer was almost too good to be true and she delayed her reply for a few seconds. She felt a strange sort of trust for the guy, and that alone was setting off an alarm in her head, but she ignored it, something she'd become good at during the last few years. "I think I'm going to have to take you up on that offer." She smiled sweetly, showing genuine appreciation. Picking a piece of bacon off one of the slices, she popped it into her mouth, and re met his gaze. Waiting until her mouth was clear of food, she spoke again. "So...there wouldn't be anything going on tonight?" She questioned, trying not to sound as desperate as she felt. Anything had to be better than getting wasted in your dorm alone, hell she'd attend a sporting event at this point. [/style] | [/style] |
