compton is both the youngest and only girl in a family consisting of three brothers ranging from 16-19 and a military father, currently stationed in boston, massachusetts. compton's mother died from breast cancer before comp had turned four. to her, mother is a vague image of a smiling women with floaty brown hair and sparkling blue eyes. her brothers had better- not to mention more- memories of their mother that they would frequently share with compton. her father went along with it, occasionally retelling a unknown memory to all of the family.
growing up without any feminine influence, compton could have turned out worse. compton was quieter than her higher-strung brothers. each of her brothers were different: warren, the oldest, was the adrenalin-junkie. austin, middle brother, was bold and frequently got in trouble from his loud mouth. finally, lincoln, the youngest brother, was the comedian of the family. because of her siblings being the usual ones up front, compton became the shy one. in school, her friends consisted of girls who they were never able to get close to, do to her constant moving. just causal smiles exchanged during lunch. in second grade, compton was diagnosed to be dyslexic, which made learning extremely hard for her. despite her struggles, she continued to not let it get to her.
in her family, she was closest to her oldest brother warren, who was four years older than her. he was the one who introduced her into the sport of horse-back riding. compton started lesson when she turned twelve. although she rarely competed, compton enjoyed the sport despite the family having to relocate several times, due to their father's profession. so far, the linwood family has lived anywhere from san fransico in nothern california, deep south louisiana and a small new zealand village. they have lived in over seven different place for the past six years; their time there ranging from three months to two years. boston is their newest home but is by far compton's favorite.
applying to appleberry was a huge step for compton. when she was accepted, compton experienced mixed feelings. finally, she was content with her decison to enroll at abc. she wanted the chance to be able to put it clichely, 'live life,' and not have to worry about where her next home will be.
