Horses were never Gavin's forte. He wasn't exactly interested in riding, but he seemed to frequent the stables. There was always an empty stall he could sit and ponder in. Today was one of those days. He walked across the campus of the school he once was enrolled in. The sun beat down on his back, and the dark colored shirt he wore made it even worse. Beads of perspiration soon began to appear on his forehead. He wiped them away with a swipe of his tattooed hand.
He made his way toward the large stable facility. The wind brought the smell of the animals inside. Gavin wrinkled his noise. His visits here would be so much more enjoyable if horses smelled better. He carried a small grey backpack across one chiseled shoulder. Sliding open one of the giant stable doors, he peered inside. No one seemed to be here. He let himself in and walked between the two rows of stalls. Various equine sniffed at him as he walked past. He knew only a handful by name, but acknowledged him as he passed.
He finally reached an empty stall at the end of the barn. He pulled on the door and it stuck a little at first, but eventually gave in. Gavin walked inside the small square room. He left the door ajar. Taking a seat in the far corner, he held the bag between his legs. In one swift motion, he unzipped the pack and retrieved a glass bottle from inside. The brown liquid in the bottle sloshed back and forth as he twisted off the black cap and took a swig. Almost instantly he felt the whiskey begin to warm his insides. He sighed and smiled. They say if you drink alone, you're drinking for the wrong reasons. Gavin didn't think so, though.

He'd had a relatively good night of sleep which was quite surprising since he'd spent the past week not sleeping at all because of nightmares. He shrugged to himself as he walked out of his dorm and outside it was nice and cool which was nice since it was summer time now he knew that everyone including the horses could use with a cold spell in the summer time. He raised an eyebrow as he noticed that one of the barn doors was pushed open he hadn't thought anyone would come to the stables this early in the morning. He slipped inside and glanced around confused there was no one around he scratched his in confusion but shrugged it off and wandered to his horse Sonny's stall. He patted the bay hanoverian gelding as he poked his head out of his stall to greet him.
Michael looked around the barn then stopped as he saw someone sitting in the corner of one of the empty stalls he wandered over and said, "Gavin? what are you doing here it's like 6:30 in the morning" He raised an eyebrow at the fact that he was drinking at 6;30 in the morning but then again Michael had seen a girl here on campus drink at 1 or 2 in the morning during one of his late night wanderings so this wasn't as strange but still strange none the less. ❞ | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true] |

Gavin was sitting in the dusty corner, occasionally taking swigs from his bottle when he heard footsteps.Great... he thought. Hopefully whoever it was wouldn't notice him. He couldn't stand most of the snobs at this school. He would be eternally greatful for graduating. He listened to the footsteps. They were coming closer and closer. He sighed. He had come here because he thought no one else would be around.
"Gavin? what are you doing here it's like 6:30 in the morning" The voice was familiar. It was his friend, Michael. Michael was a few years younger than Gavin, but he had managed to befriend him not too long ago at a party. The boys differed in many ways, but also had many similarities. For one, they were both British, although Gavin's London accent was heavier and harder to understand.
"What does it look like, Mikey?" asked the boy. He then smiled and took another drag off the bottle, "I'm having myself a right good Irish breakfast." He laughed a bit at his own joke. "What in bloody hell are you doing out here so early, mate?" Gavin asked the boy. He gestured for him to come join him.
He hadn't seen Michael in awhile and wondered how he was getting along. It seemed sometimes he was perfectly fine and others he was falling apart. In a nearby stall, a horse whinnied. Gavin couldn't understand why everyone at this school was so obsessed with the animals. They just seemed like a big hassle to him.

He sat himself down across from Gavin he drew his knees up to his chest and rested his chin on the top of his knees.
He wasn't one to blurt out things but when his emotions got high he sometimes did and if he got pressured enough he'd crack and admit what was wrong he was sure Gavin didn't know about the rape but most people figured it out after a while because of the way he reacted to physical contact that he didn't expect or want. He usually initiated contact just to stop people from giving him odd looks because he avoids any kind of physical contact further then hugging and even then he didn't like to be hugged it made him uncomfortable to be that close to another person.
He looked around for a moment before he said, "Why you'd choose the barn the plenty of places around campus you can go in and not get found people will start to show up around 7:00 to get in a good ride by themselves and to get their horses ready for the day. it won't be very peaceful and quiet for long you know" ❞ | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true] |

"Dude isn't it a bit too early to drinking? And I came out early to see Sonny I want to get out on the cross-country course before anyone else does."
[/i] Gavin furrowed his brow. Sonny? Oh right, that was Michael's horse. He could never remember whose beast was whose, nevertheless their names. He scratched his head for a moment. "C'mon, mate, ya know me better than that." Gavin laughed. "It's never too early for me to be drinkin'." he told the boy as he joined him in the stall. Gavin ran his fingers through the loose dirt and hay on the ground. He could sense that his friend was uncomfortable. He seemed to be that way a lot. He listened to his friend speak again. "Why you'd choose the barn the plenty of places around campus you can go in and not get found people will start to show up around 7:00 to get in a good ride by themselves and to get their horses ready for the day. it won't be very peaceful and quiet for long you know"[/i] "Most people don't think to look in an empty stall." he explained. "Plus, if I'm lucky I might get to see up a few skirts from this angle." he laughed. Gavin thought he was exceptionally funny. "Besides, peace and quiet hasn't ever really been my thing." He turned slightly and looked his friend in the face, "What's wrong with ya today, Mike? You're acting strange." he asked. He took another pull off of the bottle and then offered it to his friend. He wasn't sure if Michael was a big drinker or not, but it seemed like the polite thing to do. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/center]

Michael picked up a lang strand of hay and started to carefully wrap it into different shapes or at least he tried to the piece of hay kept breaking every time he got it close to a shape so he dropped that piece and picking up another.
Michael nodded Gavin had a point there unless they were looking into ever stall as they walked by someone wouldn't immediately notice someone sitting down on the floor of an empty stall. Michael snorted at Gavin's comment about looking up girls skirts he smirked and said, "Most girls will be wearing breeches or long jeans not skirts dude you'll have a hard time finding a girl in a skirt here" He ran one a hand through his hair as he looked at the ground nervously as Gavin asked him what was wrong.
He was silent for a few minutes as he debated on wether he should tell Gavin the truth or make up some kind of semi believable lie. He decided he'd go with the truth he sighed and said, "i've been having these nightmares about... something... bad... that happen to me last year they keep getting worse and worse and it's gotten to the point where I haven't slept in a week I'm going to need to get sleeping pills or something to help me sleep because at this point i don't bother going to bed because I know i'm going to have nightmares it's just endless...."
