Hello, honored member, and welcome to APPLEBERRY CREST ACADEMY, a semi-original boarding school RP set in Georgia. As always on any respectable forum, there must be rules, and it seems that you've found them! Congrats. Make sure to pay attention, because any conflict, ignorance or breaking of the rules will result in being BANNED! We will try to keep the rules simple so that they aren't too time-consuming to read through and understand. ooc. OOC, for those of you who don't know, stands for Out of Character. We all love to chat with our fellow aliases because a lot of fun usually goes on in the cbox and such - BUT, there are some rules to follow within OOC. Firstly, if you have any issues with how a character is played or created, please talk to an admin instead of confronting the member directly. Also, all plotting should be done in the shipping section, not in the cbox or in threads (or in personal message) or in any other form of OOC! We also ask that no personal photos of you or anyone you know are shared within the walls of ACA. Obviously, the usual no bullying, excluding, annoying or bossing rules are still in check. pp & gm. We believe that Powerplaying and Godmodding are the two vital violations of the rulebook here at ACA. Let's begin with power playing. Power Playing is when you RP as other characters, make them do things to benefit your character, include "she did this" or "he did that" in your posts without the characters' owner's permission. Here's a few examples: As I walked into the restaurant, all eyes went to me and people began to whisper. They thought I was amazing and wanted me to become the ruler of this school. They gossiped about me and talked about me, and they looked at me enviously. OR (let's pretend I'm the powerplayer and my character is Lola, while the character I'm rping with is named Hannah) I walked up to Hannah and smiled. She smiled back, she had always been totally jealous of me and I knew I was way richer than her and that her parents were lower on the social ladder than mine were. She was so excited for me to be sitting with her. So anyway, please, NO POWERPLAYING. God-modding is a tad bit different. Godmodding is taking control of another player’s character during roleplay. It’s frowned upon and with good reason: you only control your character and no one else’s. The best way to explain it is by example. This is my friend’s post: Charmander inhaled deeply, summoning as much power as he could handle. Then his wild gaze focused on his attacker and his jaws opened. Bright orange flames burst forth as both a warning and defense. And this is mine: Pikachu jumped out of the way of Charmander’s attack and dashed behind him. “Pikaaa!” he cried; a flash of lightning shot towards Charmander’s back and knocked him forward, twitching and dazed. He couldn’t get up. How do I know whether or not Charmander could get up, or whether he fell at all? It’s not my responsibility to control Charmander - I only have control of Pikachu’s actions. A better response would have been this: Pikachu jumped out of the way of Charmander’s attack and dashed behind him. “Pikaaa!” he cried; a flash of lightning shot towards Charmander’s back, making a loud CRACKing sound. So please, NO godmodding! role-play. We here at APPLEBERRY CREST ACADEMY have a word minimum of 150 words per IC post, though more is waaaaaay better. We ask that using the word counter, you tell us how many words are in your post and add it to the "words" section of the template you're using. In roleplaying, godmodding and powerplaying are (as stated before) strictly prohibited and although bullying and sex is aloud, the character and alias that you're RPing with must give a total OK for whatever plot you have going. We ask that if there's any issues with a thread, you should contact an admin right away. Also, we have an OPEN THREADS LIMIT of 3 open threads per day, no more than 3. If that rule is broken, however many extras there are will be deleted. Another rule is that in threads, you must use a template from Caution 2.0 or wherever else you get your templates! Otherwise, threads will be deleted. registration/application THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SECTIONS! We're going to keep it simple. When creating an account (registering to the site), we ask that your username be your alias (your name, not your character's name) and that your DISPLAY NAME be the name of the character that you will RP in that account. If you wish to create more characters, please create new accounts for them! Our character limit is 6 characters. When making a new account for a new character, please name it alias2, alias3, alias4, alias5, or alias6 according to how many new accounts you've made. We ask that any and all business (shipping, roleplaying, etc) for your character is done on the character's personal account. Also, when we do activity checks, please respond on ALL of your accounts or the ones that didn't respond will be deleted! This means in all claims, you must post in according accounts as well. Next, when posting your application, please title it Firstname Lastname. No, not LASTNAME, firstname or LASTNAME, Firstname middlename, just Firstname Lastname, simple as that. Your shipper should be titled with lyrics or quote, not your name. Please remember that before threading or plotting, post in all of your claims (face claims, member group, and class claims while the rest are optional). We REQUIRE you to have a centered signature and a 100X100 profile picture, please! Anyone who doesn't will be warned and then deleted if the issue is not fixed. On a separate note, do not expect to just come here and immediately become a Staff member. Be patient. There's a chance that I'll recruit you myself if I see that you're active in the community. So follow all of the rules, and you may be rewarded. If you're not rewarded, oh well! It gives you a higher social status in my mind, and in the minds of other members.[/style][/style] |
