YOU CAN BE MY the sun was just raising over the Appleberry Crest campus. Idalia was in the woods, naturally. Waiting for her cross-country team to show their faces for the first practice of the new season. Even though the school year had only days until the students were released back to their families for summer, Idalia wanted get started quickly, just show she would know who was on her team.
Why she chose the woods to practice was another question. Idalia had her reasons though. The gym would be to small, the park too filled with no-team member students and people from the town. The woods seemed to be the only place were Idalia could properly drill her team.
Idalia leaned against the truck of a team, checking her watch for the time. Two minutes till practice and Idalia was reminded of the cheer practice that occurred a few days before. All of the girls had turned up late. Needless to say they never made that mistake again.
Idalia, or now Coach Abercrombie hoped these kids wouldn't be as stupid. |

She did not want to be late. Luckily, her dorm was close to the woods, and she had 5 minutes to spare. Grabbing an extra hair tie and water bottle, she dashed out the door, having stretched previously. Her french braid bounced off her back as she jogged up the fence, her mind already clearing of the many thoughts that flooded her brain daily. This is what she loved about running. Spotting the coach, idila ambercrombie, leaning against a tree, Spencer straightened up. Spencer was popular with teachers, but she did her reesearch on this one. From what a crying cheerleader had told her, she was pretty tough. Spencer was not going to suck up to her. She was simply going to do what she was told. "Coach." Spencer nodded at the woman, standing tall, looking her straight in the eye. |
