theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: Derrik OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: NOTES. the school was huge, in fact it was like a castle compared to her old one, then again her old one hadn't had so much as a stable or a horse. Alice was determined to learn the little shortcuts and secret hiding spots, they'd no doubt come in use eventually. she'd already spent nearly two hours exploring and was now taking a welcomed rest in the auditorium. it reminded her of the huge theaters her parents brought her to when she was younger to see some overly dressed people belt out what they liked to call opera. she'd never grown to like it and was glad those little bonding trips had eventually come to an end. stretched across the top of the piano with a lit cigarette resting between her bare lips, Alice felt like she should have been in a sexy strapless number with her hair curled over one shoulder rather than with her hair left down and straight and in her not exactly modest attire. with this sudden move to a boarding school, her confidence had taken a bit of hit and she was trying to pick up the pieces before she had to really deal with anybody. so like she'd done in the past, she acted like the best when she felt her worse. maybe her method of acting like the best wasn't quite what others would consider so, but it worked for her and that's all that matters. a short dress and a pretty lingerie could do wonders, and not only for your confidence, if you knew how to work it right, and thanks to her not so classy mother, she'd picked up a few tips. guys could be easily controlled with a little bit of showing skin, and even girls looked at you like a cheap slut, you could usually find some amount of jealousy in their demeaning glares. taking the cig from her lips, she blew out a few small rings of smoke. she closed her eyes as she took a long drag from the cancerous stick, holding in the poison for as long as her young lungs would allow. the sound of the door opening caught her by surprise and her eyes quickly flew open as she struggled to not cough. blowing the smoke out in a thick stream, she sat up and glared daggers over at whoever had interrupted her. "ever heard of knocking?" despite her bad smoking habit, there wasn't much of a raspy sound to her voice, and as of right now her tone was sharp and clear. she hopped off the piano, smoothing down her dress as she walked over to the edge of the stage. looking down on the person, she couldn't hold back the smirk forming at her lips. this was how she was supposed to feel, in control and immovable. "then again i suppose i don't own this room, do i?" it was rhetorical, she raised an eyebrow and added a smile as she cocked her head to the side ever so slightly. it probably looked like she'd simply been joking before, but it they chose to answer they'd better know what to say because an Alice with piles of unsorted thoughts could be quite dangerous. her blue eyes shone, even in the dim lighting, and she gently tapped the cigarette against her finger, letting ashes fall onto the stage as she waited a response. it wasn't in her usual nature to be bitchy, but this was her downtime, she was collecting herself and they were interrupting that. any other day she probably would have left them alone or even start up a casual conversation.

So, she skipped it. There was no doubt in her mind that her attendance record would go back to her aunt as well as the juvenile probation officer assigned to her, and she would get a mouthful of lectures because of it but Ashlee found herself simply not caring. They kept on telling her that once she figured out everything in her life that it would just simply get better but they were nothing but liars. Her life getting better after a shoplifting sentence would never get better because it wasn't going to bring her mother back from death or make her dad remember how to function. It seemed that everybody in her life forgot about that.
Her moral compass had slowly been starting to go back into it's usual spin since coming to Appleberry. They sent her here because they thought a private school would keep her out of trouble and make her grounded, but Ashlee could not help but to think that these kids were just as bad, maybe not even worse, than public school kids. All in all, Appleberry has done nothing to cure her. If anything, it only made her relapse but not completely. Maybe it was because that girl had caught her trying to shoplift out of Sephora and Ashlee just couldn't bring herself into bullying the girl into just letting her go. That was the one thing that she had hated about being in a new school, she just couldn't seem to get herself to be completely nasty and alienate herself.
Ashlee might already be alienated though after that once and probably forgotten conversation with Sammie Leger, who she had no idea was the Queen Bee of the school even though all the signs had been there. Either way, it was safe to say that they had never talked again and she was certain that it was only because she decided to dig a little too deep by asking her if there was something on her mind. After all, everybody had their secrets here, but even more curiously, they were harder to keep safe and Ashlee just couldn't seem to figure out why that is. How is it that people accessed them so quickly without even asking the individual themselves? Maybe that is the true secret of Appleberry Crest and not the fact that somebody hadn't ended up dead yet.
Being lost in her thoughts only meant that her feet carried her where they wished to go. Sometimes Ashlee didn't put a lot of thought into things until she found herself standing somewhere and couldn't even remember getting there. She would be willing to bet though that she is not the only person with this problem though. Surely there are many people who have it in their lives, if not at Appleberry with all the shenanigans going on. Ashlee found herself at the auditorium now. Maybe she'd play the grand piano there, it was something that she hadn't done in the while. Pushing open the swinging door though, she found herself met with a raspy voice and the strong smell of cigarette smoke which quickly snapped her out of her trance.
There was brunette girl sitting by the piano now, cigarette in her hand and wearing something that the teachers might consider scandalously clad. Ashlee didn't care either way though, she had seen far more bizarre in Miami and she was certain that even the male teacher body wouldn't mind what they were seeing. Reguardless of all she saw, the piano, the stage, the cigarette getting snuffed out on the floor, Ashlee was not going to be chased off. So she walked down the main aisle now and to the girl, "I hear a girl by the name of Sammie Leger owns everything and everyone in the school. So...no, I suppose you don't." words: 671 - tags: Alice Crowley - outfit: link |

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: Derrik OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: NOTES. the girl seemed indifferent to how she'd been received and even continued on down the aisle. Alice took another drag to hide her annoyance at this and resumed to stare her down. she didn't look the least bit familiar, which wasn't too weird seeing as Alice had been practically alienating herself from the general population. Sammie Leger... exhaling the smoke, she tried to match a face to the name without success. she had heard that name over the course of the few days she'd been here, but not all she'd picked up from eavesdropping had been very flattering to whoever this Sammie girl was. "Hmmm....don't know her...." Alice gave a nonchalant shrug and spun around as she reclaimed her seat on the top of the instrument. "and nobody owns me." she gave a bit of smug look as she said this. it was true though, she belonged to nobody, not even herself completely. swinging her legs, she watched the laces of her boots fly around as she ashed the cigarette, careful to hold it away from the piano and turned back to the girl. "so you're okay with this Sammie girl "owning" you?" she questioned innocently, eyebrows raised as she even added in air quotes. "or are you one of the little sidekicks?" Alice held in a laugh and settled for a small smile instead. she was all too familiar with the queen bee types, having butt heads continuously with the one at her old school. in a way, she knew she couldn't judge them. she was just as bad as them in her own way sometimes. it came as no real surprise that Appleberry Crest wasn't any different. it was a private academy after all, and though her previous experience with private schools was limited to two months before she'd managed to get herself kicked out, she knew things couldn't be too much worse. "and shouldn't you be in class?" Alice added on another question for the girl to answer as her eyes scanned the walls for a clock. she'd left her phone in her dorm, and didn't have the slightest idea as to what class period she was supposed to be in or what day it even was. for all she knew, classes could be over already. crossing one leg over the other, she held the cigarette up and watch the smoke twirl around gracefully as she waited for answers.

There was no doubt in Ashlee's mind that she may not be welcomed here right now, but in that moment, she did not care. Waltzing right over, she stopped at the stage. Leaning over, Ashlee wrested her forearms on it now, glancing up at the girl with brown eyes and watching her every move. It was a little surprising to hear that the girl hadn't heard of her, "Well then, I suppose you are lucky," she commented now and left it at that. She had a feeling that if she didn't know her, she'd know her soon enough. Ashlee was under the impression that was how the school tended to work.
Ashley nearly made a face at the thought of being her sidekick though. Really, they didn't even look like they ran in the same crowd, not that this girl would know, "I'm certainly not her sidekick," Ashlee replied now. Whether or not Sammie Leger owned her was a completely different story. Nobody knew her secret, but she was also caught by a random student attempting to do it so that left it out in the open and up for grabs. That quiet girl looked like she could be bullied into anything pretty easily as well. There was no doubt in Ashlee's mind that her secret wasn't safe at all, "And she doesn't own me. Not yet at least. Secrets and blackmail are the currency here."
Her eyes rolled at the next question now, "Shouldn't you?" she countered back, shifting her weight from one foot to another, but she didn't dare join the girl at her musical throne. No doubt that would place her in trouble and that was the last thing that Ashlee needed. There were only so many targets she was willing to paint on the back of her head and one, she thought, was a good enough limit as anything else. But one thing is for certain, maybe she should find out who she was sharing the auditorium with at that very moment. Whether or not she'd get a truthful answer though, Ashlee wasn't betting on it, "I'm Ashlee by the way." words: 366 - tags: Alice Crowley - outfit: link |

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: Derrik OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: NOTES. Alice turned back to the girl and raised an eyebrow as she deemed her lucky. this Sammie chick couldn't be THAT awful, but she didn't say anything further on the topic. whoever this girl was, was obviously not planning on leaving anytime soon and while Alice hadn't been to thrilled about being bothered, she saw this could work to her advantage. finding out a little more about this school and who was who could only help her and this girl had already given some helpful information. plus she wasn't a little worker bee for this supposed queen bitch, the facial expression after hearing Alice's question was enough to confirm so. setting her cigarette down on the edge of the piano, she folded her arms and gave a slight nod as the girl claimed she wasn't owned. the part about the school's little currency gave Alice a bit of an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach but she kept her calm demeanor and gave an intrigued smile. for the most part, keeping her own secrets buried wasn't much of a challenge. she was naturally guarded, and if she did manage to find somebody snooping around, she made sure they learned their lesson. "Interesting....why doesn't somebody just break into little barbie's room and look for a diary or something?" It was probably easier said than done, but it couldn't be too complicated, unless of course Sammie was a lot more clever than Alice was currently giving her credit for. this just proved how little she actually knew, and she made a mental note to figure out more. it was't like she was one of those girls who devoted the majority of their time to knowing what every single person was up to, but a little knowledge could go a long way if used correctly. Picking up the cancerous stick, she glanced down at a small burn mark it had left on the instrument. she ran her fingers over it and could still feel the warmth. unless this girl snitched, it would probably go unnoticed until the school had a recital or something. "And no, I shouldn't be." she replied simply to the girl's retort as she hopped off the piano and slid down to the floor gracefully. her dress was too short to sit with her legs criss-crossed, so she kept them stretched out in front of her instead. "Alice." her tone was softer and she offered what was probably the kindest of her smiles so far. she found no need to add in the fact that she was new, since it was clearly obvious from her lack of knowledge about the school. brushing some loose dark strands out of her face, she put the cigarette out on the stage floor and laid it a few inches away from herself.

Although, maybe she shouldn't blame the girl, half of the time it seemed like a myth more often than not. Especially as of lately, Appleberry appeared quiet, almost too quiet and she wasn't sure how she quite felt about it. Ashlee could not help but to wonder if that meant that something big would be going down soon, although, she could just be over dramatic at that very moment. For that reason, she could not help but to wonder if it could be used as a case against her aunt so that she could go back home to Florida instead of rotting away here in Georgia.
Still, at least Ashlee knew that she was no longer the resident new girl, this new stranger had just about taken her place. She also looked like a girl not to be messed or trifled with, but hey, Ashlee liked to believe that she still lived on the edge, "I don't think anybody's brave enough to try," Ashlee commented, "Plus I mean, there's always the roommate thing. Things like that take timing, something which a lot of us never seem to think we have." Although, maybe that last leg is true, thinking about her mom for a moment. They always thought they had all the time in the world until it was gone. She had to give props to this girl though for thinking of that, not too many people would probably even dare to think of such a thing for risk getting in trouble.
Her lip twisted slightly, noticing as the girl investigated something left behind on the piano. No doubt a burn mark from her cigarette. Ashlee didn't say anything though, there were many things that she could be considered, but a snitch was not one of them. After all, she'd hate for anyone to do it to her, so why should she do it to them? Maybe that was naive thinking, but for now, it served Ashlee just fine, "No, you shouldn't be?" Ashlee asked with a laugh, finding that hard to believe. Bet that was a lie but she hardly felt like she was in an accusing mood, "Free period or something?" That or a lack of schedule. Ashlee watched the girl get up again to take a seat on the stage, sparing her from a flash.
"Pleasure," she replied now, still eyeing the girl for a moment, "So...I can totally get you acquainted with the wonderful life that Appleberry Crest has to offer." That last bit was a little sarcastic though, there was nothing here that could make it wonderful. Other than friends, but Ashlee lacked there so she was doubtful that she could actually help out Alice with that. But she learned one lesson with Sammie that she did not dare repeat, leave out asking about stories until later down the road, that is, if anybody ever wanted to share. Sometimes, Ashlee couldn't help but to think that there was a price on everyone's head. words: 529 - tags: Alice Crowley - outfit: link |

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: Derrik OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: NOTES. As the girl assured her of her words, Alice raised her hands up in a defensive manner. "Hey, I'll believe it when I see it." It was an honest reply, because as flattering as believing somebody was, it was a compliment that Alice rarely , basically never, dished out. She'd learned early on that trusting people was for the naive, which she proudly claimed to not be. No offense was meant, but she wasn't going to waste time explaining that because if Ashlee got offended, it was her own problem. "Well that's lame." She commented in response to nobody being brave enough. "It seems like you're all basically giving her her power." If that was the case, then she felt little sympathy for the student body. She could understand there being those couple of students who couldn't stand up for themselves if their lives depended on it, but the whole school? That was just ridiculous. Either they were a bunch of spineless sheep or this girl was really a vicious and conniving monster. Then again I don't quite know much about this place yet.. Giving a slight nod at the roommate and timing thing, she didn't argue. Of course those things could be worked around, but like Ashlee had said, it took time. Alice took note of her taking notice of the burn in case she did get in trouble for it. As she laughed and questioned her response to not having to be in class, Alice gave a small genuine smile and shook her head at the suggestion of a free period. "I just shouldn't be. I don't belong in classes." Since arriving, she'd only glanced at her schedule once and had only attended two and a half classes. Of course she'd probably pay the price later, but she was enjoying skipping right now and that's really all that mattered. Part of her wanted to reply that the pleasure was hers, because the girl was being nice to her despite the rude reception she'd received, but Alice stayed quiet as Ashlee continued to talk. That's how she preferred it after all, others doing the talking so she didn't have to. "That would be lovely. I can already tell I'll have a swell time here." Her tone was sarcastic as well, but she had a friendly smile. This was exactly what she'd needed, and she was grateful the friend making didn't seem to require much effort on her part, well if this could even be considered friend making, which it probably couldn't. She was going to go ahead and call it that anyway because it was an optimistic thought, and she was supposed to be practicing optimism anyway; doctor's orders. "So is this place like Mean Girls on crack or something?"

She struck bad nerves with just about anybody now it seemed, but in the long run, Ashlee didn't care. After all, she felt pretty confident that people could tell that she wasn't a bag full of cats kind of crazy, "Oh, I'm sure you will," she replied friendly enough. Surely Alice would see enough, but then again, maybe she wasn't one of those girls who ended up on the enemy lines so much as becoming one of the girls who got scooped up like a collectors item.
But there was no way to truly tell. There were a lot of rules to this game and Ashlee still found herself trying to learn them all. At some point she would, unless they just kept on changing in times of desperation. Girls would do just about anything to stay on top or to get on top, "Well, what do you suggest then?" she asked curiously now, her blue eyes falling back on Alice now. With such a statement like that, Ashlee found herself willing to bet that at some point during her stay at Appleberry Crest that Alice Crowley would have just an Ace up her sleeve.
And just right there, a smile cracked on the other girl's lips. Maybe she did have a heart after all. Ashlee felt herself laugh at the statement though, "Don't belong in classes? Why? Too boring?" she asked now with a grin. Classes were always boring, hence why people like themselves were skipping them right now. She knew that she should be going to them though, since the school sent the info to the probation office, but for once, Ashlee just felt like not caring. More laughter bubbled up in her though after Alice's next choice of words and delivery, nothing but sarcasm, "Crack and steroids. A deadly combination I hear. But I guess that's how all elitist schools are. Don't worry, I'll attempt to look out for you." words: 345 - tags: Alice Crowley - outfit: link |

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: Derrik OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: NOTES. Alice just gave a sort of half smile as the girl assured her once more about her previous words. This girl seemed able to hold her own, and the fact that she was very adamant that this Queen Bee was evil was starting to make her wonder. Lifting a hand, she ran it through her hair before letting it drop back onto the stage. Alice's eyes wondered up the ceiling of the auditorium, and she stared at the architecture before lowering her gaze back to Ashlee as she spoke again. A full on grin spread across Alice's face at being asked about her ideas. Of course she didn't have any yet, that she could openly share anyway. "I'd have to meet this girl before I could come up with anything worth suggesting." The grin slowly faded away, but a small smile remained. Laying back on the stage, Alice stared up at the ceiling again, her smile growing slightly again as she saw the girl grin from the corner of her eye. "Now you're getting it. Too boring. Mundane. Too normal. Variety is the spice of life." Whoever had come up with that little expression was probably turning over int he grave at it being used that way, but to her it fit perfectly. Alice had gone from a pretty sour leave-me-the-hell-alone sot of mood to a fairly decent one, which was a first since arriving. Everything had been so unfamiliar and she'd been lonely, despite not even admitting that to herself. Normally she would have enjoyed the new start, but with everything that had caused her being shipped off here, things were just complicated. So when the girl laughed and confirmed the school's craziness, she couldn't help but join in with her own laughter as she turned her head to look at Ashlee. "Thank you, I don't know what I'd ever do without you." She wasn't sarcastic, but she dramatically lay a hand over her heart. It was partly true, because this girl had helped her a lot more than anything she could have gotten from eavesdropping on gossip. "And ditto. This school won't know what to do with us." Alice folded her hands on her stomach and turned back towards the ceiling for a few seconds before sitting up. That cigarette hadn't been her usual brand and as a result she was still a little restless. "Where are you friends? Do you usually skip alone?" It was an honest question, and Alice kept a neutral expression so the other girl would't think it was meant to offend. She seemed friendly enough, so there had to be at least a small group of friends unless every other person was a little worker bee.

I'd love to hear," Ashlee said with a grin now. Something told her that it would be quite interesting to say the least. And she wasn't just saying that because, but also because Alice just seemed like the type of person who could come up with something clever and crafty. In many ways, she reminded her of the friends that she had to leave behind in Florida when she got shipped up here. Although she would never say such a thing, people might take it the wrong way. They seemed to be catching onto each other now and she was quite pleased with herself.
"Was that praise I just heard from you?" Ashlee asked, hardly being serious as that cheshire cat grin still rested firmly on her lips, "But I know what you mean. Plus, school feels more like a prison than anything else." Sitting with strangers was never fun, even worse was the dreaded word of 'partners'. Sometimes, Ashlee couldn't help but to think it might send her into a fit of seizures. It was always so awkward, being forced to work with someone because usually, Ashlee ended up in the reject corner and clearly, neither one of them wanted to be with each other at all. This conversation though seemed to be going surprisingly well considering how the other girl had been less than welcoming to say the least.
She really was moving up in the world though, earning a thank you, "You are quite welcome," Ashlee replied now, "And no, they certainly won't. A pair of troublemakers like us, they'll have to watch out." Although, that was suggesting that they would hang out, which made have been a premature notion at this point in time. But hey, at least she was trying. The next question caught her off guard, she must have seemed more social than everybody else decided, "Oh, well, he's a horse so he can't really wander the school grounds," Ashlee commented. After a moment though, she went on, "To be honest, I haven't had the best of luck making friends. So it's just been me and Diamond." words: 360 - tags: Alice Crowley - outfit: link |

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: Derrik OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: NOTES. "Well if this girl is as popular as everybody makes her out to be, I'm sure it'll be broadcasted." She joked, trying to imagine the meeting, which was turning out to be quite hard since she didn't even have the slightest idea of what the girl looked like. Part of her wondered if she'd even dislike the girl. The more she thought about, she could relate the power thing. Alice loved having power, if only to make up for the lack of it she had over certain things, but to use it against a whole school seemed ridiculous, and screamed insecure. She tuned back into the conversation at hand, noticing the wide grin set on Ashlee's face. It was nice, seeing somebody who seemed happy after all the frowning, pitiful, and judging faces she'd been forced to endure the past few weeks. "I don't think it just feels like one, it is one. I mean if the building structure isn't enough, just look at the cafeterias." She joked. The cafeteria here would no doubt resemble a fancy restaurant rather than a prison, but the general school eating room was strikingly similar to that of a prison. She knew for a fact too, because her third grade class had even taken a field trip to the local prison, what for, she couldn't quite remember but she did enjoy it. At the words "thank you" she mustered up a small smile and nodded. "Ashlee and Alice. Double A. The whole school will know of us." She chuckled. It was a new thing, just sitting around and casually talking and joking, while sober. With her friends back home, they didn't do much small talk, unless they were really really out of it. Alice took note that the girl didn't seem to reject the thought of hanging out and took it as a good sign. It was getting weirder, the fact the Ashlee was skipping alone with how easy to get along with she seemed, so when she admitted to not having friends, Alice was genuinely surprised. "Don't worry, the few people I have met don't seem to like me too much." She was trying to be comforting for whatever reason, and was sure she was failing at doing so. Alice hadn't even really met anyone, unless you considered a group of girls calling her a slut while doing that whole pretending to cough thing meeting people. "We can be each other's first friends." Her mind had been warning her against saying that. Friends meant caring about people, and caring about people almost always led to pain and problems. Ashlee really seemed nice though, and that was something Alice's doctor had told her she needed in her life, was nice people.

After all, wouldn't anonymous people just post whatever the hell they wanted on a blog? Whose to say that they wouldn't post their secrets as well. But seeing as it tends to be such a sporadic thing, maybe there truly was not threat, "But no matter, after all, with broad casting, I'm sure you'll want to go out with a bang. They'll remember your name that way...unless you just like to blend in with the crowd." Yet, something told Ashlee that an intention like that was far from what Alice Crowley believed in just considering the way she dressed and talked.
Her little joke made laughter bubble up in Ashlee though, "Can't argue with you there. Although, I have to say, this prison probably caters to the rich and famous." As such does Appleberry Crest as well, or so that is what it felt like. As far as Ashlee knew, there weren't very many of the student body that were actually hear on scholarship or anything like that. In fact, most of the times, it seemed that the school was all about taking people's money for the tuition. To be honest, Ashlee wasn't even sure how her aunt managed to get her in there. But her aunt always seemed to have a trick up her sleeve anyways.
But there was a time and place for everything and money was really the last thing she felt the need to be bothered with because those things didn't really matter. Friends did, and at that very moment, it seemed as if Alice was warming up to her considerably as she smiled, even if it was a small one. Ashlee did nothing but keep her friendly grin, trying to control her laughter, "And nobody will want to mess with us," she added on now. Hopefully not, but in this school, that would almost be too simple. Plus, people stood a greater chance in surviving with numbers. Although, Alice Crowley wasn't just a number to Ashlee, in fact, it was quite the opposite. She really could see herself and this girl as friends, now all what she had to do was hope that she saw her in the same light.
And it did not seem to take long to get an answer, even though she hadn't really been trying to get one out of her in the first place: don't worry, the few people I have met don't seem to like me too much. We can be each other's first friends. Ashlee's gaze, which had wandered for a moment quickly snapped back to Alice, as if making sure that she had heard her correctly. There was no laughter though, and the other girl looked quite sincere when she spoke and Ashlee felt rather relieved about the whole thing. So she kept her smile, "I think I do quite like this plan. You're much more vocal than my horse. And those people were clearly stupid, they don't know what they're missing. Just you wait, soon they'll be jealous and wish they were friends with you." words: 537 - tags: Alice Crowley - outfit: link |

She couldn't express how grateful she was, like literally couldn't. That was easier said than done, but she managed to continue smiling, genuinely, at the girl before her. At the mention of a gossip blog, curiosity shrunk the smile, replacing it with a thoughtful expression. While it sounded like a dangerous thing, one that could do more harm than good, she was thinking of ways it could be used in her favor. Tuning back in as Ashlee spoke about going out with a bang, Alice nodded, smiling again at the thought. There was something appealing about being remembered, especially since everybody seemed to lust after it. It was sort of like being immortalized, something she liked to think she already was. Chewing on the inside of her cheek, she tried not to let her mind get too into planning. It proved to be quite easy, as the conversation at hand was actually interesting. If there was one thing she already liked about this girl, it was how easy and laid back it was talking to her. Alice couldn't help but feel like she'd been missing on something, it was a foreign feeling, not having to keep up a flawless facade. "Prison for the pampered. I can't decide if that's worse." She chuckled, imagining the dorms as cells. "I wonder if anybody else here can even read anything but money signs and price tags." Gathering her hair over one shoulder, she began to twist it until it was folding into a bun before letting go and nodding eagerly. "Oh yeah, messing with us will basically be a death wish on their part." She had a feeling, that things probably wouldn't be that simple here, but took some enjoyment from the thought. A little vengeance here and there was a good way to drain stress. Alice was literally holding her breath, and had been as soon as the comment about being friends had left her lips. She hated much she wanted to the girl to agree to it, and how scared she was of being rejected. If only making friends was as easy as it had been during the earliest years of life. Part of her wandered if it was and if she was just complicating things for herself. Meeting Ashlee's gaze as she did a sort of double take, as if she was doubting the reliability of her ears, she finally allowed herself to breath as she noticed the smile was still on the girl's face. She wanted to laugh at how silly and dramatic her thoughts were and just how pathetic they were making her feel, but she refrained for the sake of not appearing as some mental case. Plus Ashlee's next words caught her by surprise, and she didn't fight the rather wide smile that was forming on her lips. She really wanted to hug the girl, but once again refrained and instead laughed at the part about her horse. "You too. People are going to regret not befriending you. Personally though, I kind of like making people regret stuff like that." She said the last part in an almost whisper, as if it were some deep dark secret. Pulling out her phone, she held it out towards Ashlee. "Exchange numbers?" She asked, thinking about her schedule. Alice wasn't exactly sure if she even knew where it was, which was kind of annoying since comparing it with Ashlee's would have been nice. "This place doesn't seem half as bad when you've actually got somebody on your side." She admitted, glancing at the door as the sound of bell rang faintly from behind the double doors.

Perhaps it was all just an image, it wouldn't be the first time that somebody tried to pass that off to Ashlee. Everybody here did it, they were all afraid of something and the idea of opening up or even saying a word just might be your death sentence. She tended to not believe in such things, actions speak louder than words when it came to her own past and present. People always think that they don't want to have a conversation, that they just want to be left alone but it's those people who always wanted to talk the most. Ashlee knew that very well from her own experiences, her opening up though just usually consisted of partying and stealing things.
The conversation was going good though, or at least it seemed to keep both of them engaged. Sometimes, it felt like she was doing most of the talking but honestly, Ashlee didn't mind. She wasn't the one who was knew to the school, she knew quite a bit. Perhaps not as much as some others, but everything was about picking and taking scraps, not to mention, there was always that blog. Her topics were good though as far as picking the subjects, not to mention, Ashlee felt her words and Alice's own input just seemed to flow right off of each other. Something that she hadn't experienced in a while. Laughter escaped her at the prison comment, "Depends on how you see it...but I do agree, it's hard to imagine they could read anything else. Hell, I'm sure half of them hunt down a nerd for hire."
She very much could not help but to like all of this talk of nobody wanted to mess with them. Like their own little group of two people, crime fighters against the world or something else silly like that. It had been a while since Ashlee felt like she might have just connected with someone, and this felt like the first time at Appleberry. Sure, there was Sammie Leger, that had been her first conversation ever but Ashlee still didn't know what to quite think of the girl after their conversation had turned a little sour. The conversation of friendship seemed to almost put Alice on edge though, or at least, Ashlee could not help but to note that she had been holding her breath a little longer than a human should as if waiting for some sort of rejection.
Of course, that would hardly be the case. She had no desire to reject someone in friendship when she just as clearly needed it as well. Roaming the halls of Appleberry Crest could get pretty lonely when one was by themselves, even more so when you weren't decked out in designer clothes and jewelry. As a wide, cat like smile appeared on Alice's lips, Ashlee laughed, finding it infectious, "I have no doubts in that now," she commented, finding her last little statement a little curious. After all, it sounded like a hushed whisper, "Well, if you ever need help, just let me know." And it didn't take long before the deal was sealed as the other girl produced her cell phone now, "Why of course!"
Gently, she took the phone and quickly added her contact information in before handing it back to Alice, as well as her own phone as well. And who said that troublemakers couldn't make friends? Hearing the bell ring, Ashlee figured that she should probably head to her own class. One could usually get away with skipping a class, two in a row might be pushing it, and three, well, they would be onto you by then. She offered a smile though, "Nah...but that's the point of friends, isn't it? Making it bearable?" There were the usual voices in the hallway, the regular stampede of people. Ashlee was pretty certain those doors would open up soon enough, "Just let me know when you're ready to take on the world, Alice Crowley since I'm just a text away." words: 710 - tags: Alice Crowley - outfit: link |

'cuz we fall hard, we fall fast [atrb=border,0,true] [style=width: 250px; height: 290px; padding: 0px 5px 0px 5px; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11px; text-align:justify; color: #333; line-height: 99%; overflow: auto] Alice was happy. Genuinely. Isn't wasn't the sort of happiness she normally got from holing up in her room for the night with a bottle of Absolut, but more like the innocent childlike kind. It was actually nice. Conversation, actual conversation, quite rare with her, as most of them were extremely one sided with her nodding and listening. It came so easily here though. Ashlee seemed so harmless, not weak or helpless, because Alice was quite sure she could break a noise or give out a couple black eyes if pushed enough, but it didn't seem like she was out looking for dirt to use against you. At a school that people seemed to compare to a battlefield, it was really comforting. She laughed along with Ashlee at the thought of one of the popular girls literally chasing down some poor nerd to get them through school. "Same to you." Alice nodded as Ashlee added her number into her phone. She accepted the other girl's phone with a smile and began entering her own number. The bell rang, and Alice glanced over at the doors, almost expecting the truancy officers to bust through wielding batons. Instead the usual sounds that accompanied a highschool hallway in between classes drifted from beneath the double doors. Turning back to Ashlee, Alice repeated her comment about friends making it bearable in her head. She wanted to nod, but instead stood up, straightening out her dress. At the last of comment, she grinned and gave a small nod. "There's so much to take over, and so little time. I can promise it'll be sooner than later." With one last smile, she grabbed her bag and gave a small wave before retreating towards the door behind the curtains. Surely enough the school had caught onto her lack of presence in her classes. Lingering in one spot for too long probably wasn't the best idea. "Bye Ashlee." She called out before leaving through the door behind the stage. [/style] | [/style] |
