I don't know about love
"So drop everything now, kiss me in the pouring rain, kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the... the.. darn." The pencil stopped scratching on the paper, as the blue eyed girl pursed her lips. "What's a good rhyme for rain?" She murmured under her breath, standing up and setting her old guitair against the tree. Staring up at the sky, Harlow King wondered how she had gotten here. The forest was beautiful, but it wasn't the mountains of montana she knew as home. It was the closest thing to it though. "Kiss me in the pourin' rain, kiss me on the sidewalk take away the pain." She smiled, and scribbled the lyric in her notebook. Her quarter horse, McGraw, grazed by the small stream, his ears flicking to her every so often. Harlow strummed a g-chord on her guitar, then a C. "Cause I, see, sparks, fly, whenever yoo-o-u, smile." Closing her eyes, Harlow imagined herself back home, away from all the pressure at the world's top boarding school. Her eyes flew open at the leaves crackling under someone's foot. She stood up cautiously to face the intruder.

it was a perfect day. one of those perfect days where the bright sun made the grass even greener and the sky was so cloudless and blue that it matched the water. horses grazed calmly in the pasture as sammie, sitting in short, light wash jean shorts and a pale yellow fitted tank top, sat upon midnight's back as her black thoroughbred gelding loped silently past the white picket fences that lined the stable yard. sammie's golden hair fell loosely around her shoulders, with no helmet to cover it up, and the sun gave her soft tanned skin a pretty glow. finally, sammie could breathe, if only just for a short time. no phone to see the terrifying texts, away from campus, just the trees and the grass and the horses grazing to make her feel at home. in her heart, she knew that when she went, she wanted to go near these animals. they were the only innocent thing she had in her life. she hugged midnight's neck, her eyes shutting. he continued to walk, guiding the way with his long, swift strides. as we drew farther and farther away from campus, the victorian-style buildings getting smaller and smaller as we moved into the back fields. i stared ahead now, holding midnight's mane as he broke easily into a smooth, slow canter. i flexed my feet to keep my flip flops on and closed my eyes, reaching both arms out. midnight was brideless, so i didn't have to worry about the reins flipping or breaking. i spotted a figure in the distance, sitting by the pale blue stream with a horse a few feet away from her, grazing calmly. i slowed midnight, deciding to just be nice, why not? no one else was here. i walked him cautiously towards them. we were silent, so she hadn't noticed me yet. i slipped easily off of midnight's back and he made his way over to to her horse, his ears pricked forward. they bumped noses before starting to graze alongside each other. i padded soundlessly behind the girl. 'that's really pretty.' i said, listening to the lyrics she spoke.

I don't know about love
As the figure approached, Harlow noted she was on a horse. A beautiful black horse, she might add. McGraw looked up with his combination of curiousty and caution. Deciding the girl wasn't a threat, he went back to grazing, his chestnut coat gleaming in the ray of sun that poked through the trees. "That was pretty." The blonde girl, which Harlow reognized as Sammie Leger. A grade younger, Harlow had never really talked to her, the proclaimed queen of the school. Even the seniors knew her. "Oh, um, thanks." she said, smiling softly. McGraw, now more interested trotted over to join the little party. He flicked an ear toward her horse, who was looking at McGraw with interest. She softly grabbed his halter. "Your horse is a beaut." She said scratching her quarter horse's blaze.
