past: In a small, little town in Southern Georgia, Cassadee Wellington and John Grace fell in love with each other at a town carnival. They fell for each other hard as if it were love at first sight and soon found themselves engaged in a fairy tale romance that could only have a fairy tale ending as well. Deciding that they wanted a new life for themselves, they left Southern Georgia and found a new, little town to settle down in by the name of Coconut Cove, Florida. It's location in Southern Florida, but not very many people had heard of it due to it being out shadowed by Miami, Orlando, and Daytona. But that didn't matter to Cassadee and John, for to them, it is the perfect little town.
A few years later, they welcomed into their home their first daughter, a baby girl by the name of Ashlee Sara Grace, and little Ashlee was their pride and joy. She was a bundle of fun and mischief all in one and kept her parents on light on their feet. They were a happy little pair of three until four years later, they welcomed another little baby into their family: a baby boy by the name of Bradley. With that birth, their little family was complete and the Graces often found themselves on adventures in Southern Florida, whether it came by Everglades, Beaches, and just attempting to save the wildlife.
The fairy tale life would have continued going on a perfection streak before tragedy struck and Cassadee found out that she had a brain tumor. Going through chemo, and after a few months, they thought everything was over. Slowly, Ashlee watched her mother regain her strength back and become her same old self again. But they were only given six months of bliss before the terror came back, and this time, nature won out on the operation table. The Graces were torn by the loss that they had to deal with, and for a while, Ashlee watched John stop to function.
Although Ashlee didn't know how to truly deal with the situation, for she was only a teenager and reached out for help. She got it in an unexpected way, her aunt on her mother's side decided to come to their aid. Hailing from Swansboro, North Carolina, she made the trek down to Coconut Cove to deal with funeral relations and other such things, to make sure everything was in order. In that time, she had gotten to know her niece and nephew just a little bit more and took them under her wing even though she didn't have custody of them.
Even though Ashlee would never admit to it, her mother's death and her father's mental breakdown settled deep into her skin, leaving her to morph into a moody teenager, and after one nights too many of coming home late and a shop lifting scandal, the final draw had been set for her aunt and once again, she took matters into her own hands and found Appleberry Crest. Thinking some time away from home might do her some good, as well as a new and controlled environment with bigger consequences and enforcers.
