The ever rising golden amber ball that was the sun glared in Jake's face forcing him to turn and to try and stare out of the other window which was difficult considering there was nothing interesting on the other side of the road except for miles upon miles of road with people traversing along it to and fro going along on their normal mundane existence's not even taking even a second blink in another person's direction as they hurried to their desired destinations much like in the Big Apple which Jake called home. Well.. did up until he got accepted here at Appleberry Crest an elite boarding school for only the best students and riders from around the world.
Jake hopped eagerly out of the car as the rolled silently to standstill in a parking bay in the parking lot of the prestigious campus. He whistled as he headed slowly yet eagerly around the back of the trailer to collect his mare Duchess. He smiled and patted the mare's nose and said, "Alright Duchess let's go get you settled in while my parents take everything to my new room huh?" He smiled flashing bright white teeth and headed for the barn once there he slowed to admire the large and well kept barn with its equally stunning and well kept occupants. He lead Duchess into her stall and took off her traveling gear and shut the stall door as he started hanging the gear up outside her stall.

Clad in brand skinny jeans and paddock boots that I had received for Christmas, I stepped out of my dorm and into the frosty air. Not many people were on campus, most were home with their families. The campus was gorgeous, and I felt a swell of pride that I rode and attended school here. I crossed the courtyard, wind howling through the open corridor. My blonde hair streamed out behind me, wind chilling me to the bone. I wrapped myself in my leather jacket, feeling little warmth either way. I pulled open the door to the barn and took a deep breath, loving it all. The horses, manure, hay.. every smell was better than the best Burberry perfume. Meandering down the aisle, I passed a gorgeous mare with her head in the aisle. I paused slightly, trying to see what breed she was. I turned on my heel and started toward my own horse. Glancing back, I saw a boy about my age hanging his halter and lead on the hook outside the door. Smoothly, I strutted up and into his line of vision. I caught his eye and smiled. "She's gorgeous. What is she?" I held my palm out, letting her sniff me before rubbing the mare's muzzle. I cocked my hip, resting on my left leg. "You must be new?" I tilted my head ever so slightly, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

Tick Tock. Tick Tock. chimed the clock in the wall by what Jake presumed to be Mr. Connor the head instructors office then again it could be the tack room he didn't know yet he'd go take a peek in a minute. The insistent ticking of the clock reminded him of Peter Pan and the alligator or was it a Crocodile? he wasn't sure he didn't remember if it was ever mentioned in the movie what the darn reptile was anyways. He shook his head slightly there he was going again yet again wandering into the maze that was his thoughts well brain really He had a knack of doing that when he had too many thoughts in his head he wondered if there was a way to stop yourself from doing that or if it was incurable. Incurable? what was it a disease god. he really did need to stop reading so many fancy worded books and he needed to stop day dreaming and start living really.
Jake ran a hand through his hair and turned around as a girl strutted up to him. He blinked at her sort of dumbstruck she was beautiful the rich almighty i'm in power so you better listen to me Queen Bee sort of rich. He laughed nervously as he said, "Yeah she sure is a sight for sore eyes this is Duchess she's a Dutch Warmblood and Hanoverian Cross it's an interesting cross really powerful legs of a Hanoverian but the grace and gentleness of a Dutch warmblood and yeah i'm new i'm Jake, Jake Webber I just got here I don't think you're new you look far to confident to be new here " He patted the mare on her nose and smiled at the girl she was the first person he'd spoken to here and he hoped he could start off by making friends with her.
He hoped she wan't one of those people who try and use him to do their dirty work because he had a strong dislike like of those kind of people. He refrained from saying hate because everyone knows that hate is a strong word so a strong dislike sounded more appropriate in this situation.

I rubbed Duchess's velvety muzzle, Listening as the kid who introduced himself as Jake rambled on about his horse. I smiled slightly, offering him my hand to shake. "Well, welcome to ACA." Jake was cute in a adorable-athlete, little-kid-all-grown-up kind of way. Deciding to be nice, I spoke again. "Yeah, I've been here a while. Since seventh grade actually. And believe it or not, this place does loose the charm and awe that I can tell you're seeing. Would you have any intentions of riding today? Or do you need to find your dorm?" I watched Jake, realizing that maybe he would be the type to get to know. Not even for dating, but just for a friend.
I stood on my toes and peered into Duchess's stall, examining her appreciatively. Jake was correct, her strong muscles quivered along her withers, and thick lines of muscle shown in the dim light. Her beautiful mane and tail hung straight but healthy from her body, and I knew she had the build of a champion. Turning to Jake, I asked the obvious. "You compete on her? She'd make a great jumper." I glanced down the aisle, toward my horse.

Jake smiled and said, "thank you and wow that a long time to be a boarding I guess i'll get used to this soon hopefully it's just so....far away from home I guess i've never been away from home like this before its a big leap of faith I guess hmmm...i don't think the novelty will wear off for m i'm easily impressed haha and ah...I don't think i'll be riding today i'm sort in too many people to see, places to be and things to do mode right about I think I might be able to find my dorm but might just find me sleeping here tonight if I don't " He was rambling and he knew it was a habit he had when he was nervous and when he was near girls lets just saw he wasn't and isn't the most smooth talking guy around when came to girls. He also rambled when he was scared or if he knew he was going to get into trouble a man's tongue was often his worst enemy as they say. Jake found himself listening to comforting and calm sounds of the barn he knew could always count on the barn to calm him down when he was stressed out.
He knew he would be making regular trips to the barn during exam time for sure just to study and keep calm he'd try to do it without getting distracted by Duchess or any of the other horses in the barn. He looked over at the girl again as he said, 'Yeah I jump but we mostly do dressage competitions she prefers Dressage over jumping well at least thats what I think she could hate dressage and love jumping and I could be none the wiser"

I smirked as the boy rambled on. Honestly, rambling annoyed the crap out of me, but the kid was new and obviously nervous. I sighed and shook my head. "You'll have no problem finding a place here. By the way, my name's Heather. Heather Fox." I smiled and turned to Duchess again, feeling her warm breath against my shoulder. Glancing at the time, I realized that I'd been talking to Jake for almost twenty minutes. I inwardly sighed, knowing that I needed to get to practicing. "Well I do everything English, so if you ever need a riding buddy you can probably find me. I have to go practice now, but I'll see you around I'm sure." Smiling I patted the horse's neck and stepped off the door, placing a hand on his shoulder as I passed. "Good luck here at Appleberry. You'll probably need it." My voice was a whisper, and I let my hand trail down his arm as I walked away, hoping that I would see him again.
